A ring that doesn't fit isn't doing its job. Whether it slides off in winter or won't clear your knuckle anymore, resizing is one of the most common — and most satisfying — repairs we do. The big question is always: can I get it done today? The honest answer is "often, but it depends." Here's what's realistic.
What's usually possible the same day
- Plain gold or silver bands going up or down a size or two
- Simple solitaire settings without stones along the band
- Minor adjustments for comfort or seasonal finger changes
- Sizing beads or a small insert to keep a loose ring from spinning
These are bread-and-butter jobs for an in-house jeweler and can frequently be finished while you run other errands at the mall.
What usually takes longer — or isn't possible
Eternity bands
Rings set with stones all the way around can't be stretched or cut the usual way. Resizing may require removing and resetting stones or rebuilding the band.
Tension settings
These rely on precise pressure to hold the stone, so resizing is specialized and rarely same-day.
Tungsten & titanium
These hard metals generally can't be resized at all. The usual solution is a replacement in the correct size.
Big jumps or intricate work
Large size changes, channel-set stones near the band, or detailed designs take extra time to do right.
How resizing works at Forever Jewelry
We start by checking your ring's metal, setting and condition, then give you a clear quote and a realistic turnaround time before any work begins. Repairs are done in-house — not shipped out — which is exactly why so many resizes can be same-day. Afterward we inspect the stones and refinish the band so it leaves looking its best.
